The “White Ghosts” of Tanzania
The United Republic of Tanzania lies on the Indian Ocean coast of East Africa, bordered by eight other nations. Formerly a colony of both the German and British Empires, upon independence in 1961 Tanzania was divided into 30 regions and, like many Africa states, in parts suffers from political turbulence, inadequate education and poor law enforcement due to territorialism, superstition and poverty.

The Big Picture is a static feature located within Hartlepool College of Further Education in one of its public areas. It is closely tied to the College’s RESPECT campaign, which promotes equality, fairness and understanding for all individuals across a range of social, moral and historic topics.
